Snacking is on the rise! Sweet, salty or savory, 94% of Americans eat a snack at least once a day, and half of us consume two or more snacks daily (Mintel 2015). Turns out many of us snack when we are bored, and the same is true for consuming “virtual” food. According to Allrecipes’ 2016 Food & Social Survey one in four cooks (26%) say they are most likely to view food content on social sites when they are bored—particularly millennials—and more than one in three (40%) say viewing social food content serves as a form of relaxation.
